Retro Thursday*

This one is from the late 90s. Again, this is what can happen with no planning or sketching or reference - just an idea in the head. Yes, there is a story behind it, but now is not the time for storytelling. Done with acrylics on illustration board, about 9 by 8 inches.

*In an effort to post something once a week I'll be showing an image from the archives each Thursday.

Arcade game propaganda: Part XII

I've gone further back for this one. Way back into the 1970s (if Wiki is right). It's the latest in the series of mock propaganda posters. I plan on doing just one more - to complete a calendar. As always, prints are available here.

I'd say it's somewhat of a companion piece to this one:

Retro Thursday* 007

This one isn't too old. It was done just before Daniel Craig's first run as Bond. It was intended for use in the paper that I work at, but wasn't. Sketched in pencil, touched up in Painter and Photoshop.

Arcade game propaganda: Part XI

The latest in the series. A mash-up of vintage propaganda posters and retro 1980s arcade games. Prints available here.

Retro Thursday* (one day late)

This was probably my second or third attempt with acrylics. Zero planning or sketching. Just ran with a thought in my head. Circa '98 or '99.
